The work Neller Davies has done with the Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH) catering team has been featured on the BBC Food Programme.

Sheila Dillon took a tour of the facilities and met up with Neller Davies founder Julian Fris, who talked about our journey helping the hospital take staff catering in-house, as well as ASPH’s executive development manager Raouf Mansour, an associate of Neller Davies, and facilities support services manager Eimear Jordan.

After bringing catering in-house, the team began working with local suppliers to source fresh, seasonal produce, and retraining chefs to prepare nutritious meals, which has led to a huge increase in staff eating in. The hospital is also working on plans to revamp patient meals by working with smaller local caterers.

Sheila even tried some of the food and signed off the potato cakes as “seriously good”!

The outcomes demonstrate how, with a considered and collaborative approach, and investment in training, hospital catering can be done well.
